    CUADC presents
    RED DEMON
    by Hideki Noda
    10.30pm Wednesday 21st - Saturday 24th October @ ADC theatre

Near an isolated fishing village, on a faraway island, a stranger is found in the surf. Unable to speak the language of the fishermen and their wives, wild rumours spread that this stranger is a demon, come to snatch a baby for its supper. Before long, bottles full of strange manuscripts from the land beyond the sea are washed ashore; perplexing cave paintings speak of a search for a better world; fishing boats bob helplessly on the wild ocean. Noda has been described as "absolutely the most talented and provocative playwright of contemporary Japan". Now his play "Red Demon" is coming to the ADC in an exciting and innovative physical theatre-inspired production. Get involved!

For those interested in working on a challenging production that will utilise SOUND, LIGHTING and SET to create a strong aesthetic please apply or email cc509 to find out more about what we're planning... *

This will be a visually enticing, high energy production using tight ensemble work and physical theatre to bring to life this strange and wonderful story

We are also looking for MALE ACTORS both for a lead role and to complete our talented ensemble. This is a project that will combine the dark comedy of Noda's script with dramatic and powerful physical theatre and ensemble work. As a result, there are fantastic opportunities for comic actors as well as those who are just interested in bringing a character and story to life. Additionally, any performers who want to explore physical theatre in a slick, high energy production please come and audition whether you are very experienced or have never performed before.

Please note that anyone auditioning must be available for intensive rehearsals in the run up to the opening night on the 21st of October.

If you can't make the listed audition slots but would like to audition or have any general questions then feel free to email Cait Crosse (cc509@cam.ac.uk) *

    Audition Times:
    10th October 10am - 12pm in ADC Dressing Room 1
    11th October 9am - 12pm ADC Rehearsal Room

  1. Join the Bone Marrow Register
  2. SAVE A LIFE!: JOIN THE BONE MARROW REGISTER

Cambridge University Marrow Donor Recruitment Clinic

Wednesday 14th October 2009, 5-9pm, Wilkins Room, Downing College

Come to the clinic, run by Cambridge University Marrow, to join the Anthony Nolan Trust's bone marrow register. A small blood sample will be taken if you choose to join and meet the necessary criteria. Everything takes no more than 15-20 minutes!

For more information, read below, or look at Cambridge University Marrow's website: http://www.srcf.ucam.org/marrow

    # WHY JOIN? #

Every year thousands of people with diseases, including leukaemia, reach a stage in their illness when their only hope of survival is from a bone marrow stem cell transplant. In some cases a sibling or relative may provide the best match, but in many cases an unrelated donor could be the only option. The ANT bone marrow register allows a database of potential donors to be searched and matched for tissue type. Put simply, the more people who join the register, the greater the chance that a good match can be found when a patient is in need of bone marrow. So, THE MORE PEOPLE WHO JOIN THE REGISTER, THE MORE LIVES COULD BE SAVED!

The chance of being called up are fairly slim, but if you are then you will be saving someone's life.

    # WHO CAN JOIN? #

Most people aged between 18 and 40 can join the register (subject to certain criteria - see below). There are certain groups of people who are significantly under represented on the register, who we are particularly seeking to recruit. There include MEN and also many ETHNIC MINORITY GROUPS.

As tissue types vary with ethnicity, it is particularly important for members of these groups to sign up. When you attend the clinic you'll be taken through the registration process by a trained counsellor, who can answer any questions you may have. For detailed suitability criteria, including medical conditions which may preclude registration, see the ANT website (http://www.anthonynolan.com).

    # FURTHER INFORMATION #

For information about the clinic please contact Ou Yanwen (yo228@cam.ac.uk) or Myura Nagendran (mn337@cam.ac.uk) For info on Cambridge University Marrow or the Anthony Nolan Trust, look at their respective websites (above).

    Best Wishes,
    Cambridge University Marrow Committee 09/10

  3. Dissertation Help
  4. Dear Student,
I am just coming into my third year studying Education at Homerton. As for most final year students, I have to complete a dissertation project and this is where I really hope that you will help me out. I need to recruit as many Cambridge undergraduate students as possible across all colleges and particularly across a range of subjects to complete a research survey for my dissertation. I can't stress enough how much I need your support as without it I won't be able to complete my dissertation.
It's a really easy survey to do and should only take about 15 minutes of your time. Also, in appreciation of your support, there is an opportunity at the end of the survey to enter into a raffle where there is a chance of you winning a £20 'thank you prize'.
Please try to put aside 15 minutes of time to help me with the survey and if you could spread the word among your friends in college and on your course that would be greatly appreciated.
The survey can be taken by clicking on the following link: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/186576/cambridge
    Thank you for your time,
    Chloe Davies
