- Invisible Children Evening
Invisible Children Evening - Wed 21st Oct, 7.00-8.30pm, Physiology Lecture Theatre, Downing Site
Imagine a place where children live in fear. A land where children are taken every night to a place that will eventually condition them to become cold blooded killers; just like the ones who had kidnapped them. Imagine a camp that forces young children to watch others like them murdered in the worst ways, in order to desensitize their young minds. A camp that either converts or kills all that enter.....
This isn't the plot for a bad film, this is the reality of life for too many children in Northern Uganda.
Invisible Children is a charity set up in response to the war in Uganda which aims to educate and inspire young people across the globe to campaign and fundraise for change both in Uganda and other parts of Africa. The IC movement is fast gathering pace all over the world. This promises to be a really lively and interesting event and will include a DVD about the situation in Uganda, the work of IC and, most importantly, what YOU can do to help!! So come along and find out more, we can't stop the war, but many voices together can make a difference.
Drinks and nibbles will as always be provided!

capital firms in the market, are coming to Futures to provide insight into
the often hidden world of the buyside.

- The Yes Men
SJC // JCR and CUSU Ethical Affairs present..
'The Yes Men', followed by a Video Link Q&A session between the two 'yes men' featured in the film and our audience!
When: 19:45 - 22:30, Saturday, 24 October 2009
Where: Palmerston Room, Fisher Building, St John's College How much: £2.50 (but well worth it!)
This highly amusing, yet shocking movie highlights some cases of controversial cooperate responsibility issues, and documents two mens' attempts to ‘fix’ them. But we felt sitting back and watching the film doesn't quite bring the Yes Men out of the big screen and into our lives enough...
So we've collaborated with producers of the film and arranged a special event: following the screening of the film, Andy and Mike (the 'yes men' themselves) will be answering our questions via a Skype Conference call! We hope this will engage and inspire our students - perhaps even inspire Andy and Mike - and at just £2.50, this surely is an event you wouldn't wanna say you missed!
