Cindie's

Ballare is directly opposite the main gate of the college (just walk to EAT. and turn left a little bit). Unfortunately the journey, at approximately thirty-three seconds, is longer than that to The Place, although this measurement was taken from a different exit from college, so really you'll have to base your decision on your relative distance between the main gate and side gate. Alternatively you can just accept that this place is also really really near.

Ballare is known to everyone as "Cindies" because, yes, it used to be called Cindies. (Unfortunately the correct spelling for this former name may forever remain lost in the folds of time.) The main student nights are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but this depends on your college: everyone from Christ's goes on a Wednesday. No excuses: you will be excommunicated if you go on a Tuesday. If you're a fresher and you do a really easy subject like, say, Medicine - oh, sorry, I mean History - try to go. Every week all year. Then boast about it to everyone who can hear you throughout the summer term. Then get held back a year. Otherwise, just go after swaps (often on a Wednesday) or whenever you feel like it.

Cindies in theory has precisely zero redeeming features. It is large, soulless and expensive. It is full of really annoying people. The music is always, without exception, truly terrible. The DJs stick to the same playlist each and every week. Yet somehow this keeps them coming back for more. Cindies on a Wednesday is THE big Christ's night out (don't ask me why) and you'd be well advised to leave your pride, reservations and any sense of dignity at the plodge before heading out for yet another rendition of "Don't Stop Believin'". It is cheesy and it is terrible and you will LOVE it. Unless the DJ gets up himself and starts try to play 'proper music', in which case you will go and repeatedly request Spice Girls, or Bon Jovi.

The same DJ does pretty much every night. Be suspicious. Be very suspicious.
