President

Hello! My name’s Emmie Hodges and I’m your JCR President. I coordinate the JCR and serve as a link between students and college authorities, but my main role is to represent the students of Christ’s College and ensure that their needs are being met.

The JCR as a body is concerned above all else with the welfare of students, and together we aim to build a strong community spirit within college, which we hope every student can feel a part of. We work closely to ensure that each aspect of this community feels represented. The President also keeps students informed of what’s happening at a university level through collaboration with the Cambridge University Students’ Union (CUSU).

Less than half the college attend Bops, so this year the JCR would like to work towards getting a better range of events taking place, and hopefully catering for a wider proportion of the student body. Following the results of last year’s food survey we will also be working with college to improve food provisions, and to make meals in formal a hall a more special occasion. Finally, we are keen to improve welfare information and signposting, so when students are in need they know where to turn. Of course we will continue providing fantastic Bops, and making sure the JCR and TV Room are looking their best.

More than anything else I am here to represent and work with the students, so if you ever want a chat, advice, or a helping hand, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working together over the following year to make Christ’s as happy a place as possible!
