Free meditation classes at Christ's

Starting THIS coming Tuesday, Jan 29!

MEDITATION CLASSES CONTINUE- 6.15 in the Plumb (top of Z) every Tuesday...come along and take an hour to relax!

In the Lent term, Christ's is pleased to be able to offer free weekly meditation classes to all its members – students, staff and fellows.

The stresses of college life can get to all of us from time to time. With so much emphasis placed on academic study and work deadlines, it can be hard to find any opportunity to switch off and relax. Leaving the daily pressures of life at the door, even for short periods of time, has immediate and tangible benefits. With this in mind, the College will be providing weekly meditation sessions in this Lent term. These sessions will be informal and relaxed. They are free and open to all members of the college (JCR, MCR, Fellows and Staff). It is hoped that all will make the most of this fantastic opportunity.

We are very fortunate to have one of the most experienced teachers in Cambridge leading the Christ's meditation sessions. Louise Palmer has been practising and teaching yoga and meditation in Cambridge for many years (http://www.camyoga.co.uk/). All of Louise's teaching draws insight from her daily pranayama and meditation practice. Louise will introduce basic meditative techniques as a practical means by which attendees might cope with stress as and when it arises, as well as providing an hour a week of relaxation and 'down-time'.

Sessions will start in the Plumb auditorium on Tuesday 29th January at 18.15 and last one hour. Subsequent sessions will be on Tuesday 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th February, and 4th March (the last two in the Lloyd room). Please try and bring a blanket/cloth and a cushion/pillow to sit on.

We are very grateful to the Levy-Plumb Fund for supporting this activity for students.
