College power supplies

Information about temporary power supply

As part of the Lasdun refurbishment, a new 11,000 volt electricity supply cable is being installed in the King Street sub-station. The new supply should be connected by the end of January. Until then, most of the College is still being supplied by a temporary supply from the sub-station in Hobson Street.

The temporary supply has a limited capacity, and the College is currently working at close to that capacity. It would therefore be appreciated if:

Any non-essential electrical equipment could be switched off;

Other appliances, particularly computers and lights, could be switched off when they're not actually being used; and,

No additional appliances, particularly those with a high power rating  are used, otherwise we will exceed the limit of the temporary supply, which may cause the circuit breakers to trip out, plunging the College into darkness!

You are reminded that electric cookers and heaters are not permitted in study bedrooms except with prior tutorial permission.
