Freshers' week

How did you find Freshers' Week?

Even though we only had 4 days free of work we managed to pack lots of exciting stuff into that time, be it ‘mingles’, RAG bowling/punting and of course the bop! I found I settled into Cambridge really quickly, especially after the tour with my parents who helped me orientate myself, pointing out all the important places (like the fudge shop and Cindies the nightclub!)

Freshers week is really what you make of it, if you make the effort to talk to people be it freshers, second or third years you can really get a lot out of it. Everybody is really nice and the older years are always happy to help you out if you’ve got a problem – by the end of the week I’d gotten to know loads of people.

What kind of social activities have you been involved in?

RAG things - RAG is a charity organisation which runs events both within college and across the university. They do weekly quizzes which I’ve taken part in and do special events at certain times during the year. So for instance in Fresher’s Week they organised an evening bowling and we went punting during the day. In mid-November they did a pub-crawl which I went on.

Formal swaps - I’ve been on quite a few formal swaps this term. They’re a great way of meeting people from other colleges and are really good fun.

Lawsoc events - The University-wide law society has put on a number of events which I’ve been to. Undoubtedly the highlight was the annual ball held in November at Newmarket Racecourse!
